School Tour

On Friday 31st May we had our annual school tour. We set off bright and early that morning with our first destination being the Ardnacrusha power station. Ardnacrusha is a hydroelectric power plant which harnesses water from the River Shannon to create energy. This energy is then distributed around the surrounding area in the form of electricity. This was a very interesting tour and our tour guide was very helpful in answering all our questions. If you want to find out more about Ardnacrusha you can watch the following video.

After Ardnacrusha we made a quick stop in Cratloe Woods for our lunch and of course managed to have time to play in their super cool playground!
Following on from this our next stop was Thomond Park, home ground of Munster Rugby. After a very interesting tour around the rugby museum we got to explore the dressing rooms and the stadium itself. It was an exhilarating experience and we felt like we were actual Munster players! Maybe some day we might be back in Thomond Park supporting a Clondrinagh pupil playing for Munster! Next on the agenda was a variety of activities in Ennis. Second to sixth class enjoyed a scavenger hunt in the Clare Museum with Mr. O'Gorman while infants and first class made a surprise visit to the Ennis playground with Ms. O'Neill and Carmel and they even got an ice-cream from the shop (but sssssshhhh that's a secret!). Before we knew it, it was time for us all to meet up again and our next stop was Leisureworld. Second to sixth class enjoyed a game of bowling while infants and first played in tumble towers. We let off more energy in here than they have in Ardnacrusha!!!

Our final destination of the day was McDonalds. A Happy Meal was just what the doctor (or teacher in this case!) ordered and it was a great end to a great day. We arrived back at school at 7.30 with smiling faces, full bellies and great memories.
